1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Scale for Grams website at scaleforgrams.com, the Scale for Grams iOS application, and all related services (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Victor Edu, a sole proprietor trading as Scale for Grams ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What the Service does — and does not do
Scale for Grams uses computer vision and artificial intelligence to estimate the weight, calorie content, count, or dimensions of objects from photographs you provide.
- All results are estimates only. They are not certified measurements and typical accuracy varies with lighting, angle, object type and photo quality.
- The Service must not be used where a certified or precise measurement is required — including medical dosing, pharmaceutical use, legal or trade transactions, postal or shipping charges, aviation, or safety-critical applications.
- Calorie estimates are informational and are not medical or dietary advice.
3. Accounts and eligibility
You may use the web Service without creating an account; a pseudonymous identifier is stored on your device to track your free daily scans. You may optionally sign in with Google to sync scans across devices. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account or device identifier. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use the Service.
4. Plans, subscriptions and billing
- Free plan. Includes a limited number of scans per day (currently 2 on the web). Limits may change at any time.
- Weekly plan — US$6.99 per week. A recurring subscription that renews automatically every 7 days until cancelled. You can cancel at any time and retain access until the end of the current billing period. No refunds are owed for a partially used billing week except as described in our Refund Policy or as required by law.
- Lifetime plan — US$49.99 one-time. A single payment granting access to the paid features of the Service for as long as we operate it, including future feature updates. "Lifetime" refers to the lifetime of the Service, not of the purchaser.
- Purchases made inside the iOS app are processed by Apple and are additionally subject to Apple's Media Services Terms. Purchases made on the web are processed by our merchant of record, Paddle.com, who handle payment, applicable taxes and invoicing; web orders are additionally subject to Paddle's Buyer Terms. We never see or store your full card details.
- Prices are in US dollars and may change prospectively; changes never affect an already-purchased Lifetime plan.
- Applicable taxes (VAT, sales tax) may be added at checkout depending on your location.
5. Refunds
Refunds are handled as described in our Refund Policy, which includes a 30-day money-back guarantee on Lifetime purchases made on the web. App Store purchases are refunded by Apple under Apple's policies.
6. Your content
You retain all rights to the photos you submit. By submitting a photo you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to process it (including transmission to the AI providers that power the analysis) solely to provide the Service to you. You represent that you have the right to submit any photo you upload and that it does not contain unlawful content or other people's personal data without their consent.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- upload content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes the rights of others;
- attempt to probe, disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the Service;
- scrape, resell, sublicense or provide the Service to third parties as a service of your own;
- circumvent scan limits, pricing, or access controls.
We may suspend or terminate access that violates these rules.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, branding and content (except your photos), is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose. "Scale for Grams" and the app icon are our trademarks.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT WEIGHT, CALORIE, COUNT OR SIZE ESTIMATES WILL BE ACCURATE, THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE — INCLUDING ANY DECISION MADE IN RELIANCE ON AN ESTIMATE PRODUCED BY THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF US$50 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN EXCLUSIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU; NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW, NOR YOUR STATUTORY CONSUMER RIGHTS.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
12. Changes to the Service or these Terms
We may modify or discontinue features at any time. We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date, and continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to updated Terms, stop using the Service and, where applicable, request a refund under the Refund Policy.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11) survive.
14. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in our place of establishment, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction — except where the consumer-protection law of your country of residence gives you mandatory rights and venue, which remain unaffected.
